I’m a painter whose work is shaped by a life between India and the United States

Studio Swapna means dream in Hindi.

My name is Swati Pradeep. I paint to understand the world and my place in it.

My work is guided by emotion, memory, and color. I was born in India and grew up in the United States. Living between cultures has shaped how I see and interpret the world, but my work is not always about India. Instead, it reflects the experience of diaspora more broadly, of holding multiple influences, histories, and ways of seeing at once.

I see color as language. Some artists draw lines to define forms. I use color to describe how it feels to be alive in a particular moment.
